Products for whiten your teeth that we find on the market often contain ingredients that can attack the pH of the mouth. Of course, as soon as we use them, they leave us a feeling of cleanliness and freshness, but in the long run they can lower the natural defenses of the mouth leading to tooth decay, gingivitis, infections ...

Alternatively, we can use natural and ecological products, whose ingredients do not alter the balance of the mouth, but rather bring therapeutic benefits. In this regard we will show you several healthy and economical alternatives for whiten teeth in effective way.

Remedies for white teeth with natural ingredients

  • White clay

White clay is often the main ingredient of natural toothpastes, due to its beneficial properties:
It can be used by everyone: just buy white clay, specific for oral use. There are in fact other varieties of clay, which however have potentially toxic components when they are in contact with the oral mucosa.
For use, just put the clay directly on a moistened toothbrush or mix it with turmeric, a spice with remarkable healing properties: it has an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, whitening, antiseptic action.
You can brush your teeth with this white clay and turmeric compound for a couple of minutes and then rinse your mouth with warm water.

  • Coconut oil

This oil has high therapeutic properties and also prevents tooth decay and tartar; you can add it to your natural toothpaste or use it alone.
Coconut oil must be extra virgin, because refined oils lose all their properties; in the long run, they can even become toxic. For more information on the use of coconut oil to whiten teeth, please refer to the pageCoconut oil for teeth whites forever.

  • Sodium bicarbonate

Bicarbonate is also an excellent natural whitener; it washes the teeth and disinfects the gums in a natural way, but be careful not to abuse it because it is very alkalizing, moreover, its prolonged use could damage the tooth enamel.
It should therefore be used in small quantities, preferably mixed with other ingredients and always very finely ground. To obtain a creamy consistency, it can be moistened or diluted with a liquid base.

  • Infusion of thyme

It is an excellent mouthwash; just prepare a concentrated infusion of thyme and store it in the refrigerator for up to four days.
Once ready, rinse your mouth with this infusion, after brushing your teeth well: you will benefit from the antiseptic and healing properties of thyme and it is also recommended for those suffering from gums that bleed easily.

  • Sea water

As an alternative to classic mouthwashes we also have water: just mix 50 cl of sea water with 250 cl of natural water

  • Banana peel

Few people know this remedy; let's talk about the banana peel, which usually ends up in the garbage, yet it is an excellent teeth whitener! Just rub the inside of the peel on your teeth for a couple of minutes, then brush them off with your toothbrush. Thanks to the salicylic acid and the citric acid contained in bananas, we will have a progressive whitening of the tartar.
